The state has decided to reduce the budget it spends on culture. Cultural actors begin the year 2008 in The most complete uncertainty about their funding. Most affected by divestiture are the artistic and cultural associations, companies, theaters, places of support of amateur ... which are the breeding ground of creation and innovation, and are by their proximity to main counterparts of populations.
The cuts announced are funding the creation and dissemination. But even more, at a time when arts education and the right to culture are all affirmed as priorities by the President of the Republic, are the aids for cultural actions in rural areas, in neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, prisons ... which are largely reduced or even canceled.
The state, by withdrawing, dismantling the French artistic and cultural mesh, reinforces the territorial inequalities, the lamin outreach and confines people to offer unique and global entertainment industries.
The State refuses to see the economic, social and symbolic hundreds of teams that make the artistic and cultural dynamics of our country. By basing the cuts on funding structures that are among the most fragile of the field cultural and centralizing its resources on its own institutions, the state endangers the artistic and cultural diversity in France.
There is no artistic and cultural diversity without diversity of social and economic initiatives and no real recognition of the cultural rights of all French citizens.
Through this appeal, the request Ufisc *:
- an immediate halt to cuts announced by the state,
- the realization of an ambitious, innovative and democratic, taking into account all the actors,
- the establishment of forums for dialogue in the regions.
And we call on the public, all the companies, locations, education associations, amateur and professional artists, volunteers, elected officials, directors of cultural affairs, media, and all those who think that the local culture and artistic diversity must not be lost, to gather in all regions of France Friday, February 29.
In Paris, an appointment is given from 15h, Place du Palais Royal,
